Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), through its Mosques Department, has proudly opened the Sheikh Abdullah bin Thani bin Jassim Al-Thani and Sheikha Sheikha bint Khalid bin Ahmed Al Ahmad Al-Thani Mosque in the Maamoura district.

This mosque, established by Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah bin Thani bin Jassim Al-Thani in honor of his deceased parents, symbolizes a commitment to faith and community engagement. It is part of the Ministry's broader strategy to enhance the mosque network throughout the nation, in line with Qatar's National Vision 2030, which seeks to facilitate population growth and urban expansion.

Covering an area of 1,933 square meters, the mosque is designed to accommodate 891 worshippers, with 841 spaces in the main men's prayer hall and 50 in the women's prayer area. The design prioritizes functionality and accessibility, featuring a spacious ablution area, public parking with designated spots for individuals with disabilities, and clearly marked entry and exit points for easy access. A tall minaret adds to the mosque's architectural significance in the area.

Furthermore, the mosque includes a private residence for the imam, ensuring effective religious guidance and community leadership.

The Ministry's Engineering Affairs Department plays a crucial role in this initiative, overseeing the planning, construction, and upkeep of mosques and prayer facilities, including temporary structures and residences for imams.

This department also collaborates with relevant stakeholders to ensure adherence to technical and engineering standards, develops annual maintenance plans, and maintains a detailed database of mosque infrastructure and personnel.
