Indian media has reported that a soldier from the Border Security Force (BSF) has been captured after crossing into Pakistan.
On Thursday, the Pakistan Rangers apprehended the Indian soldier in the Punjab area.
The soldier, identified as Constable P K Singh from the 182nd battalion of the BSF, is said to have entered Pakistani territory by mistake during a routine patrol.
According to India Today, “Singh inadvertently crossed the Indian border fence and was subsequently detained by the Pakistan Rangers in the Ferozepur region.”
This incident occurs amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following a recent attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir.
