Qatar’s National Planning Council (NPC) has proudly unveiled the National Data and Statistics Strategy, coinciding with the council’s first anniversary. This initiative is designed to enhance the nation’s data framework and support the Qatar National Vision 2030.

During his keynote speech, NPC Secretary General Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa remarked, “The National Data and Statistics Strategy represents a forward-thinking approach that bolsters Qatar’s leadership and readiness for the future.”

He emphasized that the Third National Development Strategy is centered on Qatar’s future preparedness, which involves anticipating global trends, embracing transformation, and leveraging advanced, data-driven technologies like artificial intelligence.

In addition, Qatar is set to host a significant annual boxing event in collaboration with Visit Qatar and The Ring.

The strategy presents a detailed vision for progressing Qatar’s national data and statistics framework, with the goal of integrating various sectors and providing precise, trustworthy information essential for planning and development initiatives.

“The National Data and Statistics Strategy is a proactive step that strengthens Qatar’s leadership and future preparedness,” reiterated the Secretary General.

This strategy fosters innovation by enabling national enterprises to create intelligent solutions and utilize emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.

Al Khalifa outlined crucial elements of the initiative, including the launch of the National Data Program and the establishment of regulatory frameworks such as the National Data Policy, National Data Standards, and a national guide for data governance.

He also introduced the Qatar Data Trust Index, a pioneering tool designed to assess public confidence in data by evaluating its quality and adherence to national standards.

As part of the central database initiative, Al Khalifa announced the introduction of the QInsights platform, which will showcase 119 indicators identified by the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment.

A fundamental aspect of the strategy is the creation of the National Statistics Center within the NPC, which will act as the official source for national statistics and spearhead efforts to develop a comprehensive statistical database to meet Qatar’s data requirements.
