In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two soldiers have lost their lives and 15 terrorists have been eliminated during three distinct confrontations, as reported by the military's media wing on Saturday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement indicating that intelligence-based operations (IBO) took place on Friday and Saturday.

According to the ISPR, eight terrorists were “sent to hell” when troops engaged them effectively at their hideout during an IBO in the Karak district, following intelligence reports of militant activity.

Additionally, four more terrorists were killed by security forces in another IBO in the North Waziristan district.

“During the fierce exchange of fire, two valiant soldiers, Lance Naik Usman Mohmand (28 years old, from Charsadda district) and Sepoy Imran Khan (26 years old, from Kurram district), displayed extraordinary courage and made the ultimate sacrifice, embracing martyrdom,” the ISPR stated.

The report also mentioned that troops “successfully neutralised” three additional terrorists in a separate encounter in the Gomal Zam area of South Waziristan district.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased terrorists, who were reportedly involved in various terror activities.

The ISPR noted that sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the vicinity. “The security forces of Pakistan are resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers only reinforce our determination,” the ISPR concluded.

In recent months, Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the end of a ceasefire by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan with the government in November 2022.

Militant violence and security operations have escalated since March, with the number of militant attacks exceeding 100 for the first time since November 2014, as reported by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies.

Pakistan was ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with fatalities from terrorist attacks increasing by 45 percent over the past year, totaling 1,081 deaths.
