Pakistan restricts airspace in Karachi and Lahore.

KARACHI: The aviation authorities of Pakistan have declared a temporary restriction on certain sections of airspace within the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions (FIRs) for a duration of one month.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has released a new NOTAM (notice to airmen) regarding the closure of specified areas of airspace in both cities.

As per the NOTAM, these airspace sections will be closed from May 1 to May 31, 2025, daily between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

Sources in aviation have indicated that this measure is being implemented for security purposes.

Nevertheless, commercial flights will continue to operate using alternative routes, with air traffic controllers providing guidance to ensure efficient operations.

Officials have assured that flight schedules will remain mostly unaffected, and flights are anticipated to proceed as usual despite the partial airspace restrictions.
