On Monday, Pakistani senators expressed a unified stance in response to the recent provocations from India. They emphasized that while Pakistan is committed to peace, it will take decisive action if India attempts to instigate issues, particularly concerning water rights or Kashmir.
Senator Faisal Vawda remarked that Pakistan seeks to avoid conflict, but will not hesitate to retaliate if India threatens its water supply.
He stated, "In the face of threats to our nation, we stand united. Our military is courageous, and we fully support it."
He also expressed gratitude to the Pakistani media and television personalities for their robust counter to Indian assertions. He urged the prime minister to gather all political factions for a discussion on the prevailing circumstances.
Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar addressed the Kashmir issue, highlighting that the people of Kashmir are still denied the right to determine their own future due to Indian oppression.
He pointed out that minorities in India are deprived of their fundamental rights and criticized Indian leaders for making aggressive threats, labeling their actions as reckless.
He commended the Pakistani military, noting that the current army chief is a prudent and responsible figure. He also mentioned that Indian media and politicians are covertly contemplating the possibility of war.
Lieutenant General (Retired) Abdul Qayyum contributed to the Senate discussion, asserting that while Pakistan does not desire war, it is prepared to defend itself if necessary. He stated that India cannot unilaterally nullify the IRSA water treaty.
He elaborated that halting river water flow is a complex issue and advocated for the construction of dams, which he deemed a fundamental right for Pakistan. He remarked that India is already violating international regulations, but Pakistan stands ready to confront any challenges.
All senators concurred that Pakistan must remain resilient, united, and prepared to safeguard its rights. They lauded the military and affirmed that the nation is firmly behind its armed forces.
