A South Florida businessman, David Knezevich, charged with the murder and disappearance of his estranged wife, Ana Maria Henao Knezevich, was found dead in jail, confirmed his attorney. Knezevich, 37, was facing serious charges including kidnapping and foreign murder after Henao Knezevich vanished in Spain in February 2024.
He was discovered unresponsive at the Federal Detention Center in Miami, and despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead. His attorney stated he died by suicide. Henao Knezevich’s family expressed mixed feelings, noting that while they are relieved he won't evade justice, they are left without answers regarding her whereabouts.
Knezevich had been arrested in May 2024 after returning to Miami from Serbia. Prosecutors believe he was involved in his wife's disappearance, citing evidence such as surveillance footage and suspicious text messages sent from her phone. Knezevich maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, which drew international attention as authorities sought to uncover the truth behind Henao Knezevich's fate.
