Moscow - A man has been arrested in Russia on suspicion of orchestrating the assassination of a Russian general through a car explosion, allegedly on orders from Ukraine, according to the FSB secret service on Saturday. The incident, which occurred on Friday, resulted in the death of Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, who served as the deputy head of the military’s General Staff's main operational directorate. The FSB reported that Ignat Kuzin, a 1983-born Ukrainian national, was responsible for planting explosives in a Volkswagen Golf in Balashikha, a city in the Moscow region, leading to the general's death. The agency claims Kuzin utilized a homemade explosive device sourced from a Ukrainian special service cache in the area, and the detonation was remotely triggered from Ukraine. The suspect is currently under interrogation by Russia’s investigative committee and could face life imprisonment on terrorism charges. As of now, Kyiv has not issued any statements regarding the incident, which resembles previous attacks targeting military personnel and prominent supporters of the Kremlin's military actions over the past three years.
